So you've already discovered Peasholm Park, but if you want to extend your visit and include some nearby attractions check out our guide to the best things to do around the Peasholm area.
1. Crazy Golf
We have several Crazy Golf courses around North Bay. There are two right outside Peasholm Park.
North Bay Golf: A miniature golf course located on Peasholm Gap (head towards the beach from the North entrance to the park and its just by the Peaches n Cream cafe)
Crazy Golf on Peasholm Road is just by the outdoor bowls centre (over the road from the South entrance to the park). Click here to find out more >>
North Bay Adventure Golf: A little further than the other two, this course is situated right on the promenade if you walk towards the Sea Life Centre. It has great views of the beach, and a little cafe right outside. Click here to find out more >>

2. Sealife Centre
A firm favourite for families - especially on a rainy day as most of the exhibitions are inside. It is quite a long walk from Peasholm Park for little legs, so you might want to drive to the Sealife car park off Burniston Road, or take the Beachcomber open top bus (or even the mini steam train from Peasholm station to Scalby Mills station).

3. Open Air Theatre, Northstead Manor Gardens & North Bay Miniature Railway
With family fun days running throughout the Summer holidays, there is free entertainment in the OAT grounds, as well as plenty of things to do at Northstead Manor Gardens.
For more info on the OAT summer activity schedule, check their facebook page here >
Northstead Manor Gardens also has a tree top adventure rope course (Skytrail), boating lake, inflatable water balls, and a traditional wooden waterchute that has operated since 1932.

And of course a visit to this part of Scarborough wouldn't be complete without jumping on the mini steam train to Scalby Mills station. Full details can be found at Scarborough North Bay Railway's website >

4. Alpamare Water Park
Another indoor attraction (great for rainy or colder days) - the waterpark has several slides, a wave pool, outdoor pools as well as an onsite spa with world class saunas and steam room facilities.
Although Alpamare had to sadly close its doors before Christmas 2023, the Council have taken over and are hoping to open by Spring 2024. Keep an eye on their website for more details on the re-opening.

5. Open Top Bus
If you've discovered everything in North Bay and still have enough energy to do a little more exploriing - why not hop on the Beachcomber open top bus to South Bay. There you can check out the amusements, walk up into the old town for a spot of shopping, or head to the beach.
Scarborough's open top bus runs along Marine Drive to both bays. The bus route operates from North Bay to South Bay - from the Sealife Centre right up to the Spa on South Bay. With busses every 20 minutes every day in the summer season, and on weekends outside the school holidays, it really is the best way to travel between the bays.
Tickets can be purchased on board, and if you've travelled to Scarborough by car you can combine a Park & Ride ticket with the Beachcomber to save money.

6. Cleveland Way Coastal Path
If you're feeling extra adventurous, why not get onto the Cleveland Way path from Scalby Mills for a hike along the cliffs?

The views are absolutely stunning, and you can access some of the lesser known bays. Cross the bridge at Scalby Mills and head up the steps to reach the top of the cliff. There are a few benches along the way so you can stop for a cuppa and soak in the sea views. The Cleveland Way goes all the way up to Whitby and beyond, but one of our favourite spots is Jackson's Bay - a secluded bay just a little further North than Scalby Mills. A steep descent can be tricky at times, so make sure you wear suitable shoes and don't attempt to get down the cliff in bad weather. But on a clear day it's like having your own private beach.
7. North Bay Beach
No trip to North Bay is complete without a visit to the beach!
There are cafes, ice cream shops, a surf school and Doorstep Adventures - a lovely gift and clothing shop.
If you're with your dog, be sure to check out our Dog Friendly Guide to make sure you're clued up on the areas of the beach with dog restrictions. Please also make sure you pick up after your dog, we need all the help we can get to keep the beach clean.
Speaking of keeping the beach clean - if you fancy getting involved in a group beach clean we have plenty of local community groups who dedicate their time to keeping rubbish off our shores. We're building a whole guide about how to get involved in local environmental activities (so keep an eye on our website and social media), but in the meantime - check out our local eco/environmental facebook group No More Trash on facebook or for beach cleans, try Yorkshire Coast Beach Cleans.
