The Best Places to Eat Near Peasholm Park

Have you enjoyed a few hours in the park and have now worked up an appetite?

Peasholm Park has its own cafe within the park, however it operates on limited opening hours and with quite a small menu.

This blog post will help you find the perfect place to eat outside the park, whether you're looking for a quick snack, or a full sit down meal.

The Best Snack and Quick Bite Cafes

Watermark Cafe

With amazing views across North Bay beach, this little cafe serves some lovely snacks and small bites - soups, sandwiches, jacket spuds, salads, cakes and a great brew. Or if you'd like a full meal they also have a few options such as burgers, scampi, fish and chips etc (but please check their menu as it may change). Their breakfasts are also really good, and are very popular with locals, expect a wait at busy times!

We've included the Watermark Cafe in our Dog Friendly Guide as it is one of our favourite places to visit with our dogs - read a more detailed review here >>

Bella Rose Cafe

Another really popular option with locals, both in and out of season - it gets quite busy but is worth the wait!

Serving great breakfasts, snacks and light bites, as well as pies, chilli, burgers and other mains. Good service and great coffee - plus its dog friendly and features in our Dog Friendly Guide >>

It is just over the road from Peasholm Park, only a few minutes walk from the South entrance. The opening hours are limited though, and (like many cafes in Scarborough) closes at around 4pm and reduces hours throughout winter.

AlexandrA Community Sports Centre (Inside the bowls centre on peasholm Road)

Open most days between 10am and 2pm, the cafe in the Bowls Centre serves light bites and drinks. It has a small menu, but is dog friendly and provides great service. If you just want to pop in for a quick bite before heading off to see other North Bay attractions it is ideal!

For more information, check out their website here >>

Saltwater Cafe

A small cafe serving light bites, hot drinks and also has an alcohol license if you fancy a pint! Definitely a "tourist spot", it has great views over the bay but TripAdvisor reviews are a bit hit and miss (especially with locals). Service can be slow, but if you just want a drink with a view it could be worth a visit.

Another cafe that allows dogs inside and out in their sitting area - we have more information on our Dog Friendly Guide >>

The Best Fish & Chips near peasholm park

Just outside Peasholm Park's South entrance (next door to Bella Rose Cafe), you'll find North Bay Fisheries - and once you've tasted their fish and chips you'll understand why it is always so busy. A firm favourite with North Bay residents, this has to be one of the best fish and chip shops in Scarborough. It is a takeaway only though, so you'll have to find a bench in the park, or up on the cliffs to eat.

It only opens limited hours throughout winter (usually tea times), but in the summer months they also open for lunchtime.

Double check their opening times on google. or facebook.

The Best Restaurants Near Peasholm Park

We have several chain pubs serving food within a few minutes drive from the park - including The Tunny Catch (on Burniston Road near Alpamare), and Scalby Manor (a little further up Burniston Road). But if you'd like to try out one of the independent restaurants near Peasholm, keep reading....

AZ Restaurant (Turkish & Mediterranean)

The food is spectacular at AZ, and although they only open for evening meals they are always busy (booking recommended in Summer). You'll get great service, and be spoilt for choice with the menu. Everything is cooked from scratch, and the food really is a delight to the tastebuds. We highly recommend giving AZ a try if you enjoy Mediterranean and Turkish food.

Find AZ on Columbus Ravine near the Dean Road roundabout -

THE HIDEOUT

Serving burgers, BBQ style food, sourdough pizzas as well as lighter bites -it is one of the best places to eat near Peasholm Park. The Hideout serves alcohol and teas/coffees, and speciality hot chocolates to die for. It is also dog-friendly and features in our Dog Friendly Scarborough Guide

Check out their website for menus and more information on opening times.

Taylors Bar & Restaurant

Dog-friendly pub with great views across North Bay, serving light bites and the usual pub style meals. Taylor's has recently added a tapas menu which has proven to be quite popular.

This is another "tourist spot" with a prime location right on North Bay beach, but it gets mixed reviews and locals generally only pop in for a brew. However, they are the only place near Peasholm Park open until late, 7 days a week both in and out of season. If you're looking for somewhere to eat within a short walking distance of the park, and its out of season, this is probably your only option.
